At Dow Studios, we’re always excited about new opportunities to collaborate on projects that entertain and educate. Our most recent project was a social media campaign for Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB), designed to raise awareness about the importance of staying vigilant against online scams. The project was developed in collaboration with FP7 McCann, a leading advertising agency. This campaign aimed to engage and inform audiences in a lighthearted, yet impactful way, using humor to deliver a crucial message.

The Campaign Concept: A Comedy Sketch with a Purpose

QIB’s Anti-Scam campaign needed to break through the noise and grab attention. The result was a comedy sketch concept that takes place at a fictional Anti-Scam Academy”—a boot camp for trainees learning how to detect scams in the digital world. Each episode revolves around the trainees, with the comedic twist that one trainee always answers incorrectly, leading to funny “consequence” exercises while the others showcase their knowledge. The tone of the series is educational but fun, designed to encourage people to stay alert against phishing, scam emails, fraudulent calls, and other online threats.

Pre-production: Laying the Groundwork

The success of this campaign was built on a solid foundation of detailed pre-production work, and at Dow Studios, we take this part of the process very seriously. The preproduction phase involved scriptwriting, storyboarding, and talent scouting to find the perfect comedic actors who could bring the script to life. We also scouted multiple locations to ensure we had the right environment to match the boot camp theme.

One of the exciting parts of the production was working with the fitness facility Strongbox. Their gym space offered the perfect backdrop for the rigorous “boot camp” setting, with its industrial vibe. We also spent time preparing props and other on-set details to ensure everything was in place.

 

A Team Effort

It was one of the rare days that the entire Dow Studios team was on set. The atmosphere was one of collaboration and enthusiasm. Everyone came together to bring the campaign’s vision to life—from the crew handling the technical aspects to the actors delivering the laughs. It was a full-day shoot that required a lot of hard work, but the result was worth every second.

Post-production was where everything came together. After a long day of filming, our team worked to ensure the footage was polished and ready for release. This involved editing the scenes to maintain the comedic pacing and timing, sound design to heighten the humor and keep the energy of the video high, and color grading to ensure the visuals matched the look of the campaign. The final step was integrating the graphics and necessary text to reinforce the message.
