At Dow, we are passionate about bringing creative visions to life. A collaboration with the agency Sixty Degrees and Ooredoo allowed us to do just that. The project presented an exciting challenge: creating a visually compelling scene entirely from scratch, with no physical location or pre-existing setup—just a brief and a concept to guide us.
The brief called for a family immersed in an ultra-luxurious setting, exuding elegance and sophistication. Every detail, from the opulent tiles to the golden accents, bespoke furniture, and glittering chandeliers, had to be carefully designed to align with the desired mood. This was more than just a photo shoot—it was a thoughtful and intentional creation.
Our Process:
- Pre-Production and Creative Alignment:
We began by thoroughly studying the brief and working closely with 60 Degrees to ensure every element—lighting, mood, and overall aesthetic—was carefully planned to bring their vision to life. - The Plate Shot:
We started with a plate shot, an empty setting without any models or additional elements. This provided the base image we would later build upon. Hours of post-production work was required to transform the plate shot into the final scene. We added dynamic, movable elements to accommodate the talents that will later occupy the space and adjust the composition as needed. This was a meticulous process that involved refining the setting piece by piece, adjusting lighting, and various elements seamlessly into the scene. - Lighting and Realism:
Lighting the subjects posed a unique challenge. Our goal was to ensure the lighting looked as realistic as possible, especially since the physical space didn’t exist as it would in a traditional shoot. We worked diligently to match the lighting of the talents with the artificial environment, paying close attention to how light interacted with the luxury elements around them. - Overlaying Technique During the Shoot:
During the shoot itself, we used an overlaying technique to visualize the integration of the talents into the plate shot in real-time. As we captured the images of the models, we overlaid them onto the plate shot, allowing us to adjust and fine-tune the composition on the spot. This technique ensured that we maintained the seamless look of the final image as we progressed with the shoot. - Post-Production:
Post-production played a key role in bringing the concept to life. Over several weeks, we carefully constructed the luxurious setting, layering elements to create a cohesive and realistic image. Every detail—from shadows and reflections to intricate textures—was added to ensure authenticity.
The result was a beautiful image that captured the essence of the agency’s vision and Ooredoo’s brand identity.
