Some projects start with a brief.
This one started with a conversation.
When the team at Best Buddies Qatar approached us ahead of World Down Syndrome Day, they were looking for more than just a production partner. They wanted to tell a story that felt honest, warm, and deeply human. One that could reflect their mission of inclusion and connection. A video that tells a story.
From the very beginning, it felt like a shared intention.
More Than Just a Project
For our Creative Director, Jaber AlAzmeh, the project stood out immediately:
“It was meaningful from a humanitarian perspective, being able to contribute, even in a small way, to improving the lives of people with Down syndrome and addressing issues like loneliness.”
That sense of purpose resonated across the entire team. This wasn’t just another production—it was a story everyone wanted to be part of. What made it even more unique was the level of trust from the client. “The client gave us full creative freedom to build everything from scratch without interference. As a creative, that’s incredibly inviting.”
From the initial idea to the final delivery, that trust remained consistent. It allowed us to explore, challenge ourselves creatively, and ultimately craft something that felt authentic and impactful.
Building the Story
We approached the project from the ground up.
Starting with the concept, we developed the narrative, wrote the script and monologue, and translated it into a visual plan through detailed storyboarding.
A key theme in the brief was isolation—a reality many individuals with Down syndrome experience. This became the emotional foundation of the story.
During the creative process, the team explored a wide range of references and inspiration. While we came across many powerful awareness campaigns, we felt a strong need to create something different—something that would not only highlight challenges, but also leave viewers with a sense of hope. A video that impacts!
That’s where the central visual metaphor was born.
The idea of the box—a simple yet powerful representation of isolation—became the core of the narrative. From there, the story evolved into a journey: from limitation to connection, from isolation to inclusion.
Preparing the Story — and the Person Behind It
Before stepping onto set, we took an extra step—one that became essential to the success of the film.
Working with Laith was at the heart of this project, and we wanted to make sure he felt comfortable, confident, and fully supported from the very beginning. To achieve this, we organized dedicated pre-production sessions in our studio.
These sessions allowed Laith to become familiar with the environment, the camera, and the script at his own pace. More importantly, they created a space where trust could be built—without any pressure. Over time, we saw his confidence grow. What started as preparation quickly became something more meaningful: a collaboration.
“Meeting Laith early on was unforgettable. He brought such positive energy, always smiling and genuinely excited to be part of the process,” Jaber shares.
This preparation not only helped refine the performance, but also ensured that when the cameras rolled, Laith could truly be himself—natural, relaxed, and fully present.
On Set
When the shoot day arrived, that preparation made all the difference. The structure of the shoot remained simple, but the energy on set was powerful. There was a natural connection between everyone involved—something that can’t be staged.
Laith stepped into his role with remarkable focus and ease.“He was fully engaged, even after multiple takes, always ready and motivated,” Jaber notes. “What impressed me most was his attitude and how well he delivered the script.”
The atmosphere on set reflected the spirit of the entire project. The crew, the client, and everyone involved shared a common goal—not just to create a film, but to tell a story that truly matters.
That sense of unity translated directly into the final result.
The Final Output
The final film opens with Laith standing alone in what appears to be a minimal, white space. As the camera slowly pulls back, it reveals that he is inside a box—visually representing isolation.
As he speaks about the barriers he sometimes faces, the message becomes clear. And then, in a powerful shift, people begin to open the box.
What follows is a simple yet meaningful moment: Laith steps out, no longer confined, supported by others—moving forward together.
It’s a visual metaphor for what inclusion truly means.
Beyond the Film
The relationship with Best Buddies Qatar played a key role in the outcome.
“They were fully cooperative throughout the entire process. Even when we faced challenges, we worked through them together. It truly felt like a collaborative effort.”
From facilitating locations to supporting production needs, the team at Best Buddies ensured that everything was in place for us to deliver the strongest possible result.
Their response on the final video says it all: “Can’t thank you enough.”
Alongside the final video, we also captured behind-the-scenes moments that reveal the spirit of the project—the collaboration, the energy, and the shared belief in the message. Together, they show not just what we created, but how we created it.
A Shared Purpose

This collaboration is a reminder that meaningful work comes from trust, collaboration, and shared purpose.
It’s also a reflection of what can happen when creativity is given the space to grow—supported by a client who believes in the process from start to finish.
At Dow Studios, we build stories from the ground up.
And some stories stay with you.
